Electric & Natural Gas
The Greater Clinton Region is serviced by several providers of electricity and natural gas, including Alliant Energy, Eastern Iowa Light & Power Coop. and MidAmerican Energy. Several large natural gas pipelines run through the region. Not only do these entities provide ample, reliable power sources and quality customer service, but they are also advocates for economic development in the region and will work diligently to assess and meet the needs of your business.
Alternative Energy
The State of Iowa has become a leader in the development, production, and use of alternative and renewable energy sources and Illinois is not far behind. Locating in our region provides access to wind, ethanol, and biodiesel energy sources produced by companies like Clinton County BioEnergy. Iowa ranks third in wind power generation capacity in the U.S., first in production capacity of ethanol, and is among the leading states in biodiesel production.
Water & Wastewater Treatment
The City of Clinton’s water need is serviced by The Iowa-American Water Company, a publicly-owned utility. The surrounding municipalities provide service to the remainder of the region and each municipality provides wastewater and solid waste services. The Region has adequate water and wastewater capacity to satisfy the needs of existing and new businesses and the City of Clinton is developing a new wastewater treatment plant to expand these capabilities.
Telecommunications
The Greater Clinton Region offers a wide array of telecommunications services through a variety of vendors including Mediacom, CenturyLink, and Sprint. These and other local, regional, and national providers provide a range of services from local and long-distance phone service to broadband cable, fixed and mobile wireless, DSL, ISDN and T1 and T3 lines.
