CRDC Announces “Women in Manufacturing” Video Series

The demand for talent in the manufacturing industry has never been greater! One of the most critical components of any workforce development plan is a focus on gender inclusivity. Myths and stereotypes related to careers in manufacturing can be heard from the bleachers at a ballgame, a corner table at a restaurant, at home, and even in the classroom.

The most exaggerated and popular myth is one that defines manufacturing as a “Man’s World.” If you have recently visited a plant, regardless of the products that they produce, you will quickly come to understand that gender has nothing to do with the quality of work. Women are filling roles in production, maintenance, quality assurance, warehousing, and facility leadership.

According to a Deloitte study titled Women in Manufacturing, research continues to show that gender diversity only supports the success of manufacturers through improved ability to innovate, a higher return on equity, and an increase in profitability.

Manufacturing has been transformed and continues to adapt to changes in customer demand, technology, and workforce availability. It is critical that we engage young professionals as they navigate career decisions, and take action to ensure that the dated stigmas and stereotypes are busted and amazing opportunities are revealed!

Through this video series, we hope to introduce you to the many women working in manufacturing across the Greater Clinton, IA Region!
