Hero BX Purchases Additional Land in Clinton, IA for Planned Expansion
CRDC, together with the City of Clinton, is pleased to announce the sale of 3.3 acres of land to Hero BX Iowa at the Lincolnway Industrial Rail & Air Park (Rail Park). Hero BX is a national, privately-held company headquartered in Erie, PA. In September 2018, the company purchased the existing biofuel facility at the Rail Park and has since invested several million dollars in upgrading it and getting it in top shape to produce fuel from local and regional raw materials.
The additional 3.3 acres will be used for a planned expansion. Hero BX Iowa is proud to employ nearly 30 local full-time workers and provide income for dozens of skilled workers from local and regional contractors who are doing the retrofit.
Chris Peterson, President of Hero BX, said “we have been very happy with how our company has been welcomed into the Clinton community by CDRC and many other organizations and business leaders. When CRDC presented us with the opportunity to acquire more property in the Rail Park adjacent to our existing facility, we jumped right on it. Although our project has been slowed by an uncontrollable downturn in the biodiesel business and more recently by the COVID pandemic, we are looking forward to finally getting the newly retrofitted plant into production in the coming weeks.”
“On behalf of Clinton Regional Development Corporation’s Board of Directors, we would like to congratulate Hero BX on its recent land acquisition at the Rail Park. All of us here at the CRDC look forward to watching your company grow and prosper and we thank you for your continued investment in the Greater Clinton Region.”—Steve Clements, Chair of the CRDC Board, and SVP of Citizens First Bank.
The Lincolnway Industrial Rail & Air Park is a Certified Site in the State of Iowa. It is currently rail-served by Union Pacific. The Rail Park houses four businesses, with the newest, Sewer Equipment, breaking ground in December 2019. Two other businesses signed option agreements for land with the CRDC in Q1 2020. For interested businesses, almost 300 acres of shovel-ready land are still available for development with immediate access to 4-lane U.S. Hwy 30. The Rail Park is outside of the 500-year floodplain, but still accessible to the Mississippi River for both dry and wet barge operations.
