LyondellBasell Employees Beautify Local Agencies

LyondellBasell Clinton Complex employees and their families  provided landscaping, painting and cleanup at the YWCA Clinton and Victory Center as part of the company’s Global Care Day. The event encourages LyondellBasell employees around the world to collectively participate in community service projects on the same day.

“Global Care Day has provided a great impact for us,” said YWCA Clinton Maintenance Director Trevor Lampe. “LyondellBasell does a great job of delivering on the wants, needs and expectations for this type of project. The effort of their volunteers has saved me days of work for only a few hours of their time.”

For the company’s 15th annual Global Care Day, volunteers in 20 countries on six continents demonstrated their commitment to their neighborhoods on Saturday, May 17.

“Global Care Day is an opportunity for our company to show the community that we care,” said Clinton Complex Environmental Technician Wes Farrell. “Hopefully we can serve as a reminder that these organizations live off volunteers and donations and can really use the help.”

Over the past 15 years, approximately 25,900 LyondellBasell employees and their families have donated more than 162,800 volunteer hours supporting their communities on Global Care Day.

“It is great that such a big leader in the area is giving back to the community,” Lampe said.

LyondellBasell’s Clinton Complex is one of the largest chemical plants in Iowa. Using natural gas liquids as a feedstock, the plant manufactures ethylene, the world’s most widely-used petrochemical, which is then converted into polyethylene plastic resins. These resins enhance the quality of life by serving as building blocks for products such as leak-proof and shatter-proof containers for industrial and household chemicals, packaging that protects our food from spoilage and contamination, and children’s toys that are safe and durable.
