People- The Clinton Area Development Corporation would like to welcome the following newest member investors: Banner Home Furnishings, Clinton Urgent Care, Orthodontic Specialists and River Cities Internal Medicine PC. A special thank you to Tony Manatt at Wendling Quarries for voluntarily doubling their annual membership investment. Planning- Congratulations to the Clinton Business Park Development Corporation for their recent land acquisition. In addition the CBPDC has received grants totaling $1,091,000 for development of the new Lyons Business and Technology Park on the northern leg of the Mill Creek Parkway. The Clinton Area Development has participated in various meetings in Dubuque, DeWitt and the Quad Cities to discuss more regional marketing possibilities in conjunction with the Governor’s and Michael Blouin’s suggestions that we act together more frequently in attracting new investment and quality jobs. Priorities- Over 50 people participated in this year’s Mayors DC Economic Summit. To date, over $18,000,000 has been received for use in various community projects as a direct result of these visits. Many thanks to area leaders from both Iowa and Illinois who participated in this trip. Plans for the 2004 Summit have already begun. The following organizations helped sponsor a hospitality event for invited Senators, Representatives, their key staff and other Washington, DC dignitaries: Abstract & Title Guaranty Co., Alliant Energy, Central Bank Fulton, Citizens First Bank, City of Clinton, City of Fulton, Clausen Companies, Clinton Community Schools, Clinton Engineering Co., Inc., Clinton National Bank, Custom-Pak, Determann Industries, Inc., Gateway State Bank, McEleney Auto Center / Southgate Motors, Mercy Medical Center Clinton, Quality Concrete, Dan Uphoff, Wendling Quarries, Inc., and Whiteside County. Progress- Congratulations to Wendling Quarries for their recent safety award. Employees worked without a lost time accident the entire year of 2002. Thank you to Alliant Energy and Wendling Quarries for their sponsorship of a Paragon Decision Resources, Inc. research and marketing study completed in conjunction with Greater Dubuque Development Corporation. The study favorably showed the availability of a quality workforce for both metal fabrication and back office jobs in our area. ^Back to Top^
