midwest league baseballThe Clinton region offers a wealth of land- and river-based sports and recreational activities. The beautiful landscape surrounding the Mississippi River offers activities for people of all ages and interests; including tennis, camping, ball fields, walking trails, volleyball, playground equipment and more.

Midwest League Baseball
Baseball fans enjoy watching our professional baseball team, the Clinton LumberKings, the Class A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. Their home park is Alliant Energy Field located along the riverfront in Clinton, IA. For schedules, stats, and more visit the LumberKings website.

Tennis Courts
Nets are typically available April 1 to October 30 (or as favorable weather permits).
  • Riverview Park - 6 courts at 2nd Avenue South and the river
  • Chancy Park - 2 courts at Camanche Avenue and 23rd Place
  • Emma Young Park - 4 courts just North of the Ericksen Center
  • Root Park - 1 court at 25th Avenue North and North 10th Street (unlighted)

Biking/Hiking/Jogging
  • Great River Bike & Hike Trail — The Great River Trail extends 62 miles from the Quad Cities to Savanna, Illinois. Eleven communities and 3 counties are evenly spaced along the 62 mile recreational path. The Great River Trail is partner of the Grand Illinois Trail, a 500 mile loop trail around Northern Illinois from Lake Michigan to the Mississippi River. In Fulton, a loop which branches off the main trail at 9th Avenue is marked to guide you through city streets.
  • Riverview Park Recreational Trail — Originally constructed in 1986, the "Discovery Recreational Trail" extends almost 5 miles from Riverview Park north along the Mississippi River to Eagle Point Park. The trail is asphalt in some sections and concrete in others, offering walkers, joggers and bicycle riders a place to enjoy the river.

fishingFishing/Boating
Whether you are interested in pleasure boating or sport, we have a variety of ways to enjoy the natural resources the Region has to offer. Clinton's new fishing pier is located between 5th and 6th Avenue North on Riverview Drive. Fish that are indigenous to the Mississippi River in the Clinton area are: Bluegill, Sunfish, Crappie, Largemouth Bass, Channel Cat, Walleye, Sauger, Bullhead, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, Flathead Catfish and Yellow Bass.

In addition to launch areas in our state and county parks (with permit) and several public boat ramps, there are several full service marinas in the local area.

Recreational Vehicle (R/V) Park
The area offers several campgrounds, many featuring RV parking and facilities including electrical hook-up, picnic tables, water, dump station and fill water.
