 Priorities-

ü     Worker Demographics from Laborshed Study

A “laborshed” is defined as the area from which an employment center draws its workers.  Many of you cooperated by supplying the zip code listings of each of your employees.  This, in turn, allowed the Institute for Decision Making at the University of Northern Iowa to do an intensive study to not only show the distribution of area workers irrespective of natural or political boundaries but to determine the availability and willingness of existing and prospective employees to be upwardly mobile within our workforce or laborshed area.  The study defines current and desirable occupations, wages, hours worked and distance willing to commute.  An executive summary is available from the Development Corporation office.
