¨      Tom Aller, Chairman of the Iowa Department of Transportation, was the featured speaker at the 48th Annual Meeting of the Clinton Area Development Corporation held in December.  He gave an honest review of the challenges of the DOT this year, including a tight budget that could make four-laning Highway 30 from Ames to Chicago even more of a challenge.

¨      Welcome to RJ Boars, Country Kitchen, Wolfe Beverage Company and Frye Builders and Associates, the newest member investors of the CADC.

 

Planning- 

¨      A reorientation of CADC priorities meeting was held in January. The meeting helped orientate new board members to the goals of the CADC.

¨      Planning has begun for the Mayors Economic Development Summit to be held in Washington, DC, April 30 through May 3, 2002.  Contact the CADC office if you can make the trip and be a part of this results oriented group.  The past summits have resulted in over $7 million being returned to the Clinton area for various projects.

 

Priorities-

¨      Clinton Area Development Corporation is working with the city of Clinton and Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce to develop a business / technology park off the northern portion of the Mill Creek Parkway.

 

Progress-

¨      Facilitated meetings between Rock-Tenn, local government, Clinton Community College, other providers and the Iowa Department of Economic Development to provide multi-phase funding for a $12 million major expansion including up to 125 high-quality, new jobs the next several years at the Clinton facility.

¨      Hampshire Pet Products hopes to break ground this spring on their new $10 million Camanche facility.

¨      Clinton, Iowa, now has a new area code, effective December, 2001; 563 replaces the old 319 code.
